Alhamdulillah, the Group of 87 donated a sum of Rs. 500,00/- to Digana Relief Management Unit to assist those who were affected by the recent communal violence that took place in Kandy in March 2018.
The project was made possible due to Financial assistance by a few of our generous members who responded immediately to our request. However, we needed all of our members to participate in this Noble cause in whichever way they can. Therefore most of our members assisted us either financially, physically or by providing materials.
We contacted KRCC (Kandy Relief Coordinating Centre) formed by ACJU in order to find out the present situation of providing relief and details of the affected areas.
A sub-committee was appointed consisting brothers Infiyaz Farook, Irshad Thahir, Navrooze Rawoof, Siyaz Jaleel and Shiham Ibrahim. They were authorized to discuss (make a mashoora) and make decisions on site upon visiting the area as to what projects to be executed immediately and taken up in future. The visit to Kandy was planned for Sunday 25th March 2018.
The sub-committee consisted of Infiyaz Farook, Irshad Thahir, Navrooze Rawoof, Siyaz Jaleel and Shiham Ibrahim
Upon visiting the affected area and meeting those involved in Relief Committee, the sub-committee decided to contribute a sum of Rs. 500,000/- initially.
